Some shoots are fast and simple. This wasn’t one of them — and that’s exactly what made it a great project.
I recently worked with Betaweld on a large-scale product photography shoot, capturing over 30 individual products ranging from welding wire spindles and electrodes to weld cleaning machines. The goal was clear from the start: create a clean, consistent set of images on a pure white background for use across catalogues, marketing, and online listings.
On paper, white background product photography sounds straightforward. In reality, especially with industrial equipment, it’s all about precision. Unlike lifestyle or small retail items, industrial products come with their own set of challenges. Each product needed to look clean and uniform while still showing the true character of the equipment. That meant spending time carefully positioning every item and adjusting lighting for each variation.
A big part of this shoot was getting the lighting just right. With metallic surfaces like welding wire spindles and electrodes, reflections can easily get out of control. So each product needed slight adjustments — angle, distance, and light positioning — to keep everything consistent across the entire set. This wasn’t a “set it once and shoot everything” kind of job. It was more of a refine-as-you-go process.
A large portion of the work happened after the shoot. Industrial products aren’t always “camera-ready,” so Photoshop work plays a big role in delivering polished, professional results.
